- 08/27/2005 - Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest Entry
Brickfilms.com hosted yet another contest with this one
requiring at least 45 seconds of animation done in 24 hours. Doesn't
sound like much but stop motion is a tedious process.
My entry is call AntiD - You have to watch it to get it
- 07/2005 - Don't Bug Me Places THIRD
Yes, the movie placed 3rd in the competition which was quite
surprising to me. You can purchase a DVD of all the entries at the

Added our 10 Brick movie, a
funny little advertisement and our

- 12/11/2004 - Our 10 Brick Entry Places 5th out of 24!
A little competition at Brickfilms.com was to make a 2 minute or
less movie using only '10 elements' or '10 bricks'. Twenty six films
were entered, two disqualified since they failed to vote as required
and we placed 5th out of the 24.
The film can be viewed on Brickfilms.com for now - Click to see the

- 12/10/2004 - Mirror Star is published
- 11/20/2004 - I am now a Brickfilms.com Reviewer
Brickfilms.com recently expanded their list of members that provide
the initial review of submitted films and I have been picked as one
of the four new members added.
- 11/12/2004 - Mirror Star is almost finished. Likely will not be
made public until December 2004.
- 11/09/2004 - Mr. Miyagi is now done
and viewable below. This is a music video based on a song from
ttLester, a Colorado based band.
- 10/2004 - Protowrxs Films on a Phone
A few members of the Brickfilms.com community were asked to
provide some short 30 second brickfilms for a mobile phone content
provider in Europe. I re-edited some existing films and created some
new shorts to provide for this and ended up with six totals films.
Some other directors also submitted theirs and a total of ten films
were selected for publication. Out of the Ten, FOUR of mine were
selected. Unfortunately I can't make the films available online
since they are being marketed but as of 11/2004 they sale page can
be seen on the
German T-Mobile Page for review. My films are

Pretty cool. The Brickfilm thread in relation is
here.
- 10/2004 - New BrickLinks Page
To wet my feet in the PHP world of code (I do lot of Active
Server Page, or ASP web coding but no PHP) I created a links page
for Brickfilmers to submit there sites. Although one can browse
through the member list at Brickfilims to see something similar,
this page has only sites that are Brickfilm related. If you have a
Brickfilm site, add it HERE!!

A finale of sorts, this was a favorite song for some time and I always
thought I'd make a video of it. Ended up making the video with quite
fitting recycled material. Amazing how creative you can get
sometimes without motivation.. :)

A little darker take on this song. It features a different character

A fun little parody song of Shania Twain's Any Guy of Mine by Gino
Ruberto. This video introduces an odd trio of minifigs as well.
Actually Gino liked the video enough to put it on his own song
parody site found here
http://ginoruberto.5u.com/parodies.html - Scroll down a bit and
you'll see. He did ask me to use the original version so I re-mixed
it into the 'Gino Version' which he has published on his site.

Made in about 12 hours for the Brickfilms.com Twenty-four Hour
Animation Contest (THAC) on August 27th, 2005, this little music
video fit the bill for the contest to me. With 28 entries and a
'general' theme in the contest it's placement is maybe questionable
but it was interesting knowing many others were working on the same
contest in the same time period. As of 08/28 there are still some
questions if the movie qualifies since the rules said the 'mod', in
this case the letter "N" or "n" had to appear in every frame. There
are a few frames where the mod is in the set, but not in the frame
so it may get disqualified. Time will tell. As of 08/29 the film
is officially disqualified and not in the running for the
competition. Oh well, it was fun and turned out ok.

Bug Me - June 2005 |

|
|
My entry for the Brickfilms.com Heroes and Villains contest for the
Summer of 2005, Don't Bug Me was a spin off from a joke made by 'KarateDude'
in the Brickfilms chat about 'educational super heroes'.
With collaboration with Rachel 'Dewfilms' Dew in regard to character
development and use of some previous 'villains' I had
developed for other purposes, Don't Bug Me takes one into
Brickville High for a weird little adventure. Is it a hero or is it a
villain film?
Technically this film has some problems problems
such a some set bumps, timing and some other fixes but hopefully the
story is fun to follow.

This little clip was the result of small contest at Brickfilms.com to
make a 30 second advertisement for AnimatorDV. I used a little
character I had tested with before and wrote a short ad script. The
entry placed 3rd in the contest and I ended up with a $199 version
of AnimatorDV for the effort.

I always liked this song from the 1970's and didn't think about it's
symbolism at the time. Today is a different world and it is rather
interesting how things have changed. This was actually started in
middle 2004 and finally finished in late 2004.

Just a random thought. I've never seen a real Brick character ad and

so watch it anyhow.

Another music video based on a late 70's song by the Fabulous
Poodles.. everyone remembers them right? Ok, maybe not but this song
was one of my favorites from back then. This was a on and off
again project through the summer of 2004. Although the idea was
always there, the interest was not so it took a while to come
together.
I miss the Fabulous Poodles...

Protowrxs 10 Brick
- December 2004 |
|
Created for a little competition at Brickfilms.com, the Protowrxs 10
Brick is an exercise in minimalist filming. The competition called
for limited the number of 'elements' to ten. An element is the
smallest component of the brick. For example a minifig with no hair
is still nine elements; two legs, waist, body, two arms, two hands
and a head. This film placed 5th out of the 24 entries.

A very short little clip for Halloween 2004. Just some experiments

the same bit rate.

The

This is Austin's first NOT "18" second long movie, in his words. He
came up with the script, did the animation, created his own skate
board grind sound, and wrapped it all up in Studio for the final
product... oh yeah, and he's 8 years old. Dad helped with the 'Dad'
voice while Austin is 'Mike'.

Are We There Yet? - May 2004 |

Just in time for summer travel, an answer to the age
old question.
A short three minute flick set to the tune of big band
music. the story is based on inspiration by Karen Nolen in regard to
'the question'. This was also basically an experiment in tracking the
camera with an item and giving the illusion of motion using a moving
backdrop and a moving set at different speeds.

... A little time waster
Heard this song... saw a bald
mini-fig... thought I'd waste a few hours... This is the result.
I also thought that animating a drummer would be a
challenge... It was... too much of one for me as you can tell by the
results. This was also a test to see how good of results I can get
doing close ups using our existing camcorder setup which wants to
'auto focus' on everything else. That didn't turn out too bad.
The song is a parody by Bob Rivers of a Phil Collins
tune.

Legoman
Makes a Friend - February 2004
|
|
Legoman is lonely. What can he do? He has an idea but
will things work out like he hopes. This is a follow up to the
previous Legoman movies although it really doesn't have much to do
with the first two. See Crime Doesn't Pay first to make some sense of
the extra scenes and then watch Legoman Makes a Friend.
This production is slightly better than the previous
ones. We still haven't invested in any lighting but did use an old
CamCorder camera and different capture device to get better resolution
and camera abilities. Just having fun.
